Painterly Abstraction

Although my inspiration comes from a variety of sources such as music or landscapes, the true essence of my work is in the process. First, I texturize the canvas. Next, I layer it with paint until an image emerges. Earth tones dominate this stage since they are comforting and easy to live with. Finally, I concentrate on the focal points, employing strong color relationships and intriguing shapes. It is not necessary to seek a deeper meaning in my work for I am simply trying to capture an emotion or moment in time.
